Game Change - unintended consequences

The movie, "Game Change", is a de-javu to 2008. Although I did not read the book, the movie sure did judgment to the times and the reporting of the times. But every movie maker have an objective, and they aren't always altruistic.

Whatever the objective of this movie, it does humanizes the principals ; John McCain, Sarah Palin and Steve Schmidth. Indeed, the movie at some stage portrayed John McCain as a political animal more interested in winning than his campaign slogan of country first. He gambled with Palin, because he was a risk taker. He took a reckless gamble. But the movie also showed a courageous, under-seige and ambitious Palin.

It even confirmed her side of the story on her religiosity and her human reaction to the pregnancy of her teenage daughter. The movie unabashedly portrayed Palin as a human being, the real human being that she is, and that will win her more sympathy over time. The movie tells the story of a human and national tragedy.

The elevation of a completely unprepared and emotionally incapable team running for the most consequential office in the world. McCain worried more about his ambition than about the nation - until it was almost too late. Schmidth and the others in the McCain campaign team focused more on winning, and were blinded to the likelihood that candidate Palin may not be prepared. They allowed ideology to define their perspective until they almost brought tragedy to the nation.

After watching the movie, I can not imagine any other movie I could recommend more. It is a must watch.

Obama : The Country We Believe In

A speech by The President of the United States of America, Barack Obama, on April 13, 2011 at Goerge Washington University... Good afternoon.  It’s great to be back at GW.  I want you to know that one of the reasons I kept the government open was so I could be here today with all of you.  I wanted to make sure you had one more excuse to skip class.  You’re welcome.
