Some people study economics and make prescription for the economic health of the nation. The consensus from that community from 2008 onward (when bush signed the first help for the economy with his payroll credits equalling 1% of GDP that year) remains that government spending will help blunt the impact of slowdown in other sectors of the economy.
Some people practice faith-based politics - or is it tea-bagging-politics. A politics that demonizes a Democratic President they dislike to the extent that they advocate policies that would harm the recovery, as long as it helps their prospects. They narrative from Republican politicians (at least all the vocal ones) has been a mirage of sort - This administration is a big spending, big-government, socialist. When in reality, nothing is farther from the truth.
This economy is sick, thanks to policies put in place over a couple of decades before Obama dreamt of becoming President. Now, the President is working hard to reverse the decline and institute pro-growth policies that will not just help those of us at the top, but policies that will favor everyone. The Republicans recognize this, but their politics has gotten in the way. What a shame!
