Lessons from a recession

Some people study economics and make prescription for the economic health of the nation. The consensus from that community from 2008 onward (when bush signed the first help for the economy with his payroll credits equalling 1% of GDP that year) remains that government spending will help blunt the impact of slowdown in other sectors of the economy.

A strong recession, a tepid growth

Responding to the following WSJ article: http://blogs.wsj.com/economics/2012/07/27/current-recovery-second-slowest-postwar-rebound/ In 2009, Stimulus package was passed, giving confidence to the economy. In 2010, the economy got spooked by all those Republican takeover talk. In 2011, there was additional confidence at the outset because of the deal made in after the 2011 elections (Democrats were still in charge then by the way). And in 2012, the spooky election talk is keeping the economy back. Republicans seem intent on doing whatever they can to hold the country back, if the result will help them win election (the records point to that). How nice will it be when President Obama is re-elected and Republicans no longer have an overriding motive to defeat him! Oh wait, they would still like to tarnish his place in history .... Country first indeed.

Sprint's opening

Verizon Wireless and AT&T have decided on a path to milk their customers for more dollars, in the form of new tiered data plans. Sprint, the first US carrier to move to unlimited data more than 3 years before any of its bigger competitors reluctantly decided to follow suite is headed in the opposite direction.

Barack Obama - The road we've traveled

Sometime politics can seem very small, but the choice you face...

The soul of America

As politicians would have you believe, every election is a battle for the soul of America, and this one much more so than the last. The truth is that each election is more about the politician and their operatives than about any real interest of the country. This current election season no less, and the shameful part of all this is Mitt Romney's penchant for lying, and then calling everyone else out on it. Mitt claimed for ages that he ran Bain for 25 years (1977 - 2002), but once there was questions about Bain's practices between 1999 and 2002, Mr. Romney is no longer responsible for Bain as he now remembered he left the company in 1999, even when all records shows he continued to lead the company and get compensated by the same company.

Mitt the liar?

There was a time Republicans believed they could nominate any dog who could raise enough money and then win the general election against President Obama in 2012. Their bigotry and hatred of the man and his promise so warped the mind of Republicans that they nominated a man who was once a liberal before he became a conservative before he became an ultra-liberal (Running agains Ted Kennedy for senate seat, while bashing Ronald Reagan), before he became a liberal-conservative (running to be Governor of Massachusetts) , before he became ultra-liberal (running for President since 2007).
